What we believe.

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God and the basis for our beliefs and our guide for ministry. We affirm the Baptist heritage of faith, emphasizing the autonomy of the local church and the priesthood of the believer. Our church affirms the 1963 version of the statement of The Baptist Faith and Message. Our church partners with both the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and the Southern Baptist Convention in supporting mission causes locally and globally.

We believe every person has equal access to God and equal responsibility to God. We believe our church staff have been called by God and affirmed by this church for the purpose of fulfilling their callings as servants of the body of Christ. Our ministers are not rulers of the church, but function as shepherds to guide the people to follow Christ.

We believe that God calls men and women for service in the ministry of the church. Both men and women have served on our church’s staff. Our church does not distinguish between members based on race, gender, or marital status for the purpose of selecting those who may serve. Both men and women serve as deacons, and divorce does not disqualify one from church service.

We believe in freedom of religion, freedom for religion, and freedom from religion. We believe in the separation of church and state—neither should trespass upon the distinctive functions of the other. We encourage members to practice their calling to be “priests” and reach others for Christ. We believe our church is stronger rather than weaker for having members with different views on a wide-range of issues. In the essentials of faith we believe in unity; in the non-essentials we believe in freedom, and, in all things, we believe we must demonstrate love.
