Ron McClung became pastor of the Haddock Baptist Church in August 1992 after he and his wife, Sharon served for almost 10 years in Ecuador as Baptist missionaries. Sharon serves as the Director of Health Services at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville. Ron and Sharon have two adult daughters: Jennifer is the associate pastor of FBC Pendleton, South Carolina and Kimberly, an attorney, lives with her husband Rob in Starkville, Mississippi.
Ron was raised in Stone Mountain and received his undergraduate degree from Mercer University in Atlanta. After teaching school for several years, and obtaining a graduate degree at Georgia State University in school administration; Ron followed God’s calling in his life to pursue vocational ministry. He was ordained to the ministry in 1980. He is also a graduate of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (1983-M. Div.) and Columbia Theological Seminary (1997- D. Min.) in Decatur, Georgia.
He enjoys long walks with his wife, and running. He is a huge college football fan (UGA) and also pulls for his home town team- the Atlanta Braves.
Bro. Ron loves the people of Haddock Baptist Church and says: “our church is a great family of faith that seeks to worship God and serve others through a caring church family.”
